In which Hugga watches trash TV
Jan. 8th, 2012 04:37 pmOk, I'll admit it: every time I go to the grocery store, I have this intense craving to buy a magazine with my juice/instant curry rice/salted caramels, and it has to be trashy. We're talking Star, OK!, People, etc.
So, of course, I see trends in this covers as time goes on because somehow I always end up with a giant pile at my house. And lately I've seen more and more about "Teen Mom", with giant ass letters about how Barbie is breaking up with Ken leaving baby Kelly behind and I don't know their names I don't watch the show.
Apparently the BIG ASS LETTERS worked into brainwashing me, because I was bored with APUSH and flipped on the TV, and look what's on- Teen Mom.
Ok, granted, I wasn't paying my full attention (I was too busy memorizing why the Northern economy boomed during the Civil War), but I caught bits and pieces to see if it was really up to the hype.
Let me tell you.
It's fucking boring.
I've watched 16 and Pregnant before, and from what I've gathered, Teen Mom is pretty much a follow up to that show. And it's just as boring as before. They literally changed nothing. It's the same thing over and over again: teenage girl gets pregnant, tells her family while crying, breaks up with boyfriend and keeps baby while dropping out of school.
That's not a TV show. That's a warning story in an abstinence pamphlet.
Seriously, every time I looked up each girl was saying the same thing: "I'm breaking up with X because of Y and Z, and mom you are being so unfair I can take care of my baby." It's not even "so bad it's good" like Maury or Jerry Springer where the people are seriously dumb. It's not even a "cringe and watch the trainwreck show", like Hoarders or Intervention. These are just a bunch of random kids (some of them younger than me, even!) with kids themselves and making bad decisions typical of kids with misplaced responsibility.
And that's why I don't get the hype, and why these kids are put on magazines and exploited. From what I've seen in the articles, they go in depth into the lives of these uninteresting and underage people. I don't get why the intended demographic of these magazines (18-30 year old females) would even care about teenagers getting pregnant other than quoting statistics for sex education. I don't get why these people have become celebrities for having children while children.
Someone, please explain this for me. I just want to get my curry rice without being yelled at by the magazines about Barbie and Ken's second baby.

Dec. 26th, 2011 02:37 pmI don't feel like doing tags just right now, so I'm going to devote some time to doing something...pretty much pointless!
Figuring out Fran's age, because lmao RP makes me want to know these things.
I've heard everything from 14 to 24 in fanfic/RP, and I will try to narrow that down with LOGIC. /o/
( WOO HOO POINTLESS POST )

END GAME
At the end of the event, when the groups of characters have collected their orbs, the end-boss FACE will reveal himself to all characters and engage them in battle in a separate world on his own, in a similar vein to the final boss Giygas from Earthbound.

FACE is fear. FACE is everything your characters hates and fears about themselves, their world and their memories reflected back at them. It is their insecurity and terror, and their hatred and sorrow. It changes shape depending on who's looking at it and becomes that person's fear, forcing the characters to fight what scares them most directly.
In reality, however, FACE is an animus, an animus driven completely insane by the combined mental anguish of the character's memories infecting the dream world it has built for itself for protection. Therefore, this battle will affect the real city of Adstringendum- as the characters fight it in what they think is a dream, it will re-destroy many parts of the city and affect awake characters in a similar manner to the witches of the Walpurgisnacht event. FACE will be huge- spanning the entire city's sky and absorbing the entirety of it into its insanity. It will take a massive effort to kill it and much destruction will occur during the attempt. Only when it is defeated can characters reenter reality, but not in the way they expect.
"Can you face your fears?"
FAQ
What is the purpose of this event?
To cause mental anguish, character reflection, CR through a shared quest, and, of course, the re-destruction of the city to establish more of a survival-horror setting.
Can I opt out?
Of course! If you choose to opt out, then your character will never wake up in the "real world" of the dream and merely stay awake for the entire time. The city will be normal as if there is no event going on. However, if you choose to opt out at the beginning of the event, your character cannot enter the dream world at any time during it. This is to prevent characters from telling one another that it is a dream, as the barrier between dream and reality is supposed to be ambiguous.
Characters who opt out of the event can encounter those involved by coming across their sleeping bodies. However, nothing will wake them up- they appear to be comatose, if anything.
At the end, however, there is somewhat of a forced participation by the battle affecting the entire city. Still, your character can refuse to fight or hide for the entirety of it. They can, however, protect the sleeping bodies of the characters within the dream during the battle.
Can my character "wake up" before the end of the event?
Yes, they can, but the only way to do so is to fall or jump off the edge of the balcony in the "real world" of the dream. If your character wakes up in this manner from the dream, they cannot reenter for the reasons listed in the previous question.
How can my character interact with other characters?
All characters can interact with each other in the dream world! They can encounter each other in one of the many different worlds within the dream world. They can search for the orbs together and take on the enemies that pursue them. However, characters can only meet each other beginning with the nexus- everyone arrives in their own version of Madotsuki's room. It'd get too crowded if everyone arrived in the same one, wouldn't it?
Is there a network?
No, sorry! All interactions will have to be done face to face. No PCDs will be brought into the dream world.
This obviously needs more development, but feel free to ask any more questions! :D
